Finally to the end of Learning 2.0
It sure has been a long journey for me to complete this exercises, I have truly enjoyed learning 'Learning 2.0'.
I hope that I have covered all the exercises.

We're now living in the digital age, they're so many things to discover and learn on the Internet.

Learning 2.0, has opened up my world to discovering tools, which I have never used before for example widget, gadget, RSS feeds, and adsense.
I can also incorporate some of the exercises, I have learnt into my work, especially the social networking sites.

THING 17

SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES
FACEBOOK & MY SPACE:I have always wanted to join facebook and finally got the time to do it through this exercise. It is a good tool for long distance communication to friends and families overseas.
There are lots of advantages to using these social networking sites, publishing your photos & favourite YOUTUBE clip, finding friends from your high school years and more.
The disadvantages of social networking through Facebook and My space is the privacy of informations and family photos stored on your blog.
Facebook and myspace do have an option bar, whether you want your photos or information to be seen by friends only.
I am not a big fan of BEBO, but it does contain all the funky images that can be use to bimp up your Bebo Pages.

PODCAST

I found a few interesting things, like how to plan a podcast blog. This would be ideal for setting up genealogy for family, documenting and recording something of an interest to family land and history of family trees.
I would like to use this sometime soon to record information from my grandmother about my family history and family land entitlement in Mangaia (Cook Island).

What a fantastic tool, this is much better than the google word processor doc it contains lot more features.

Experimenting inserting pictures into Zoho presentation this is cool. I had a quick browse and created a quick powerpoint will look at expanding this some other time.

WEEK ONE: INTRODUCTION

MY PROFILE

I was born on the Island of Mangaia(Cook Island).MANGAIA, the most southerly of the Cook Islands, is also the second largest. It has the distinction of being the oldest island in the Pacific. Analysis of its geology shows it dates from 18 million years ago which is probably why it arouses keen interest among geologists. Roughly circular in shape, it rises 15,600 feet (4750 m) above the ocean floor. It has a central volcanic plateau and, like many of the southern islands in the Cooks, it is surrounded by a 200-foot (60 m) high ring of cliffs of fossilised coral, makatea.Arrived to New Zealand on the 2nd February 1981 and sadly I have never returned home since then.Brought up by my grandparents, whom I love dearly. I speak fluent Cook Island Maori and yes I am a real Poly Cookie.

This part of the Island is what we called "Inland" this is where we grow taro, pineapple and a place to relax.

Mangaian beach are not like the one you see in Rarotonga or Aitutaki Island, it is very rocky but someplaces are beautiful.

On the Island of Mangaia, you have a beach on one side, in the centre are villages which surrounds the whole Island and on the other side you have what is called "Inland".

Mangaia Airport

Mangaia Airport
Easier way to get to mangaia is by Air Rarotonga, not Air New Zealand the plane won't fit on the airport. Don't forget, before the plane lands you may need to say a little prayer because the airport runway is made of gravel, don't blame this on my grandfather at the time he was building this airport with the help of some village people and the entire Mangaia high school we didn't have the machinery in those days. Hey...seriously their has been no OSH issue report or plane crashing.

The red soil reveals the ancient volcanic orgins of Mangaia. This type of soil is excellent for growing the sweeters pineapple. The pine forest was planted about 20 years ago.
